Contact Lens Fitter - An optician or other ancillary support staff person who, where authorized by state law and trained or certified to do so, may fit or dispense contact lenses to a patient based on the prescription of an optometrist or medical physician.
Optician (WA) - An optician is a specialized eye care practitioner who designs, fits and dispenses lenses to correct a person's vision. Opticians determine the specifications of various ophthalmic devices that will give correct a person's eyesight. Some registered or licensed Opticians design and fit specialized appliances to correct cosmetic, traumatic or physical defects. Other registered or licensed Opticians may also design and manufacture lenses as well as spectacle frames and other devices.
Optometric Technician - Optometric technicians assist optometrists in performing a variety of tasks such as recording patient medical histories and helping prepare patients for the vision examinations. They also assist with tests that include patient pre-testing for visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, pupil reflexes, visual field testing, pressure inside the eye, and blood pressure. Optometric technicians may also be asked to assist with eye exercises and vision therapy. Optometric technicians are usually supervised by an optometrist to ensure patient health and well being.
